Baseball Held Hostage: Day 14 – Some Solutions Don’t Work

We’re finishing up the second week of the lockout today, and St. Pete Nine’s Steve Carney debunks the idea of a salary floor in baseball, and explains why there won’t be one as things are drawn up right now in the sport.  He also gives a different idea a much better chance of happening in these negotiations.

Baseball Held Hostage is a special series of Under The Orange Roof, with new episodes daily until the end of the lockout.

Steve Carney is the founder and publisher of St. Pete Nine. One of the people most associated with baseball coverage in Tampa Bay, he spent 13 seasons covering the Rays for flagship radio station WDAE, first as producer of Rays Radio broadcasts, then as beat reporter beginning in 2011. He likes new analytics and aged bourbon, and is the owner of one of the ugliest knuckleballs ever witnessed by baseball scouts.
