The possibility of having pitcher Tyler Glasnow back for the postseason run appears to have disappeared fo the Tampa Bay Rays.

Jeff Passan of ESPN was the first to report that Glasnow’s first bullpen session, which took place Friday evening in Dallas, Texas under the watch of Dr. Keith Meister did not go as expected, and that he is likely to undergo Tommy John Surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow.

The procedure would not only end Glasnow’s 2021 season, but would put all of 2022 in jeopardy as well.

Glasnow suffered the injury June 14 in Chicago, leaving after the fourth inning of a 5-2 win over the Chicago White Sox.

The 27-year-old is 5-2 with a 2.66 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 14 starts this year.
