The Rays announced Wednesday that relief pitcher Cody Reed underwent thoracic outlet surgery to correct a recurring issue with his left hand.

Reed, who was acquired by Tampa Bay from the Cincinnati Reds at the trade deadline in 2020, has spent three different stints on the injured list, including twice this season, due to weakness in his left hand.  He went on the injured list the latest time May 19 and is expected to miss the remainder of 2021.
