Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Drew Rasmussen’s fantastic August has culminated with him being named the American League Pitcher of the Month.

Rasmussen finished August with a 3-1 record and a 1.57 earned run average, striking out 33 batters and walking just four.  He became just the second pitcher in Rays franchise history with six or less runs allowed, five or less walks, and 30 or more strikeouts in a month, joining Shane McClanahan, who did it this past May en route to being named Pitcher of the Month for May.
