Diaz’s Thumb Good, Yarbrough To Pitch Wednesday

The Rays get first baseman Yandy Diaz back in the starting lineup tonight after he missed three games with a sprained left thumb.

Diaz came out of Friday night’s win in Minnesota when a throw led him into the path of Rob Refsnyder running down the first base line.

Manager Kevin Cash also announced that left-hander Ryan Yarbrough will be activated Wednesday from the COVID-19 injured list and pitch against the Orioles, though it has not been determined if he will start or work behind an opener.

Yarbrough has been on the COVID injured list since August 10, and missed one time through the rotation.
