Strained Groin Lands Choi Back On IL
The Rays Friday placed first baseman Ji-Man Choi on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 3, with a left groin strain.
Manager Kevin Cash said Choi experienced the injury during Wednesday’s 4-3 loss in the Bronx, and was held out of Thursday’s win over Gerrit Cole to see if treatment would help the issue.
To take his spot on the active roster, left-hander Ryan Sherriff was recalled from Triple-A Durham.
