Baseball Held Hostage: Day 8 – Sympathy For The Fanbase

Baseball’s lockout has reached its second week, and finally someone has mentioned the feeling of the most important aspect of this working relationship that doesn’t get a say in labor negotiations: the fans.  St. Pete Nine’s Steve Carney discusses Andrew Miller‘s comments about the fan’s feelings from this week’s Starkville podcast, and how if both sides keep the fans at the forefront of their negotiations, things could be resolved more quickly.  The real question is: how long will it take before that happens?

Baseball Held Hostage is a special series of Under The Orange Roof, with new episodes daily until the end of the lockout.

Steve Carney is the founder and publisher of St. Pete Nine. One of the people most associated with baseball coverage in Tampa Bay, he spent 13 seasons covering the Rays for flagship radio station WDAE, first as producer of Rays Radio broadcasts, then as beat reporter beginning in 2011. He likes new analytics and aged bourbon, and is the owner of one of the ugliest knuckleballs ever witnessed by baseball scouts.
