The Rawlings Gold Glove Award finalists were announced on Wednesday, with just a single Tampa Bay Rays player being named a finalist for one of the awards.
Infielder Taylor Walls was named a finalist for the American League Gold Glove Award for utility players, joining Mauricio Dubon of the Houston Astros and Zach McKinstry of the Detroit Tigers.
Walls played in just 99 games this season for the Rays due to injury, but made 33 starts at second base, 28 starts at shortstop, and 26 starts at third base, committing a total of eight errors in 325 chances at all three positions for a fielding percentage of .975.
The Rays have not had a player win a Gold Glove since Kevin Kiermaier took home a Gold Glove for center field in 2019.
Winners will be announced on ESPN’s Baseball Tonight on November 5.
