Rays Add Southpaw Conley, DFA Phillips

Tampa Bay tweaked its pitchig staff prior to Saturday’s contest, calling up left-hander Adam Conley from Triple-A Durham to make his first stint in the big leagues since 2019.

Conley went 2-11 in his last full season in the majors, in 2019 with the Miami Marlins, appearin in 60 games out of the bullpen.  He spent 2020 working at the Marlins alternate training site before leaving as a free agent after the season.  He signed a minor-league deal with the Rays May 16.

To make room on both the actve roster and the 40-man roster for Conley, reliever Evan Phillips, who earned his first big league save Friday night, was designated for assignment.
