Springs Done For Year After Knee Surgery

The Tampa Bay Rays announced Monday thay reliever Jeffrey Springs will miss the remainder of the 2021 season after undergoing surgery on his right knee to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Springs suffered the injury on July 31 at home against Boston while trying to field a bunt.  He was initially diagnosed with a right knee sprain, but attempts to rehab only brought additional discomfort.

The reliever underwent the procedure this afternoon, performed in St. Petersburg by team doctor Koco Eaton.
