The Tampa Bay Rays have gotten another piece of the 2020 American League championship team to return for the 2021 season.

Robert Murray of FanSided was the first to report that the Rays and reliever Chaz Roe had agreed to a one-year deal.  Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times was the first to report that the deal was a Major League deal worth $1.15 million.

Roe appeared in just ten games for the Rays last season, finishing 2-0 with a 2.89 earned run average and one save, with his season coming to an end August 22 when he went on the injured list with elbow soreness.  The 34-year-old appeared in 132 games with the Rays in 2018 and 2019, striking out 118 batters in 101.1 innings.

With the Rays 40-man roster currently full, Tampa Bay will have to make a corresponding roster move to announce the signing.
