Another top-level executive in the Tampa Bay Rays baseball operations department may be poised to lead his own club, as Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic is reporting that general manager Peter Bendix is the leading candidate to take over the baseball operations of the Miami Marlins.

According to Rosenthal, Bendix has already informed the club that he is leaving to take the position.

Bendix has been with the Rays since joining the team as an intern in 2009, and worked his way up the hierarchy of baseball systems and research and development, eventually being named vice president of baseball operations after the 2019 season, and getting elevated to senior vice president of baseball operations and general manager in December of 2021.
The Marlins have been without a head of baseball operations after parting ways with general manager Kim Ng in October.
