The Rays have stayed away from reliever Andrew Kittredge because of a balky back, and now they’ll lose him for at least the news week after placing him on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 19, with lower back stiffness.
Kittredge has not pitched since May 16, when he gave up a solo homer to Harold Castro that gave the Detroit Tigers a 3-2 win.
To take his spot on the active roster, Tampa Bay selected right-hander Dusten Knight from Triple-A Durham. To make room on the 40-man roster, reliever JT Chargois was transferred from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list.
