With the rosters expanding from 26 to 28 players beginning today, the Tampa Bay Rays have added a pitcher and a position player to their bullpen and bench depth.

Tampa Bay officially recalled both right-hander David Robertson and infielder Taylor Walls from Triple-A Durham to fill out their active roster.

Robertson, who was added to the team’s taxi squad Tuesday in preparation for his call-up, has appeared in six games with the Bulls since signing a major-league contract with the Rays on August 16.  He allowed just one unearned run in six innings of work, striking out 12 and walking one.  The 36-year-old has not appeared in a major league game since April 14, 2019, with the Philadelphia Phillies after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Walls, 25, appeared in 39 games with the Rays earlier this season, being called up May 22 after the team traded Willy Adames to Milwaukee, with a slash line of .212/.315/.327 with a homer and 13 RBI before being sent back to Durham on July 22.
