Rays Make Deal With Cubs For Outfielder Ramirez

The Tampa Bay Rays announced after Friday’s win over the Baltimore Orioles that they have acquired outfielder Harold Ramirez from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for minor-league infielder Esteban Quiroz.

The 27-year-old outfielder spent 2021 with the then-Cleveland Indians, appearing in 99 games and hitting .268/.305/.398 with seven hme runs and 41 runs batted in.  He was traded to the Cubs after the season in exchange for cash considerations.

Ramirez made his major league debut with the Miami Marlins in 2019, playing an 119 games and hit .276/.312/.416 with 11 homers and 50 RBI.

Quiroz, who came to Tampa Bay in the trade involving outfielder Tommy Pham with the San Diego Padres, played for Triple-A Durham in 2021, finishing with a slash line of .268/.401/.526 with 12 homers and 48 RBI in 68 games.

To make room for Ramirez on the 40-man roster, pitcher Nick Anderson (recovery from elbow surgery) has been placed on the 60-day injured list.
