Honeywell May Work Multiple Innings

Rays manager Kevin Cash said Sunday morning that Honeywell, who was slated to work multiple innings in a simulated game at the team’s alternate training site, may do the same this afternoon against the Yankees.

“We’ll manage the game accordingly,” Cash said.  “We’ll be very aware of the pitch counts, but there isn’t a one inning limit on him.”

Honeywell hasn’t pitched in a regular season game since September 3, 2017, when he faced Gwinnett as a member of the Durham Bulls.  His father, Brent Honeywell Sr., who pitched for three seasons in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, will be at Tropicana Field to watch his son make his big league debut.
