Rays Add Wisler To Active Roster

After acquiring him from the San Francisco Giants Friday, the Rays have added relief pitcher Matt Wisler to their 26-man active roster today when he reports to the team.

The 28-year-old is 1-2 with a 6.05 earned run average in 21 relief appearances this year with the Giants, and was acquired along with cash considerations for minor-league left-handed pitcher Michael Plassmeyer.  Wisler had been designated for assignment on Wednesday.

The Rays optioned left-hander Ryan Sherriff to Triple-A Durham after Friday’s win over Baltimore.
