The Tampa Bay Rays have again had to go outside then organization in order to bring in a healthy body.  The team announced Thursday that they had signed outfielder Roman Quinn to a major league deal.

Quinn, who was drafted by the Phillies in the second round of the 2011 draft, played portions of six seasons in Philadelphia, including this year, where he hit .162/.225/.189 (6 for 37) with one double and three RBI in 23 games.  He was designated by the Phillies on June 1 and after clearing waivers, elected to become a free agent and signed a minor-league deal with Kansas City, who released him on Sunday.

To make room for Quinn on the active roster, outfielder Harold Ramirez, who broke his thumb Sunday in the team’s win over Baltimore, was placed on the 10-day injured list, and pitcher Cristofer Ogando was designated for assignment to clear a 40-man roster position.
