The Tampa Bay Rays have made an addition to their bullpen Friday, reinstating right-hander Pete Fairbanks fro the 10-day injured list prior to the opener of their weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles.
Fairbanks was placed on the injured list July 29 with right shoulder inflammation and missed 25 games. The 27-year-old also missed 25 games between April 6 and May 7 with a strained right rotator cuff.
The reliever currently has a record of 3-4 with a 3.48 earned run average in 34 relief appearances.
To make room on the active roster for Fairbanks, the Rays optioned reliever Louis Head to Triple-A Durham Thursday.
