Rasmussen Scratched From Start Thursday, Placed On IL
The Rays have seen another of their young starters hit the shelf due to injury, as right-hander Drew Rasmussen has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
Rasmussen, who was scheduled to start Thursday afternoon’s finale in the Bronx, had gone 5-3 with a 3.41 earned run average in 12 starts this season. In his last outing June 10 against Minnesota, the right-hander allowed seven runs, four earned, on nine hits while failing to get out of the fifth inning.
To take his place on the active roster, right-hander Ralph Garza has been recalled from the taxi squad.
