Patino had thrown a fastball to catcher Sean Murphy when he doubled over and crouched down on the mound. Manager Kevin Cash and the training staff came out to check on Patino, and after a brief conversation, the right-hander was taken out of the game.
Right-hander Chris Mazza relieved Patino.
