Mejia Heads To COVID IL After Positive Test

The Tampa Bay Rays have placed catcher Francisco Mejia on the COVID-19 related injured list after the team announced that he had tested positive.

Mejia has appeared in seven games with the Rays this season, hitting .348/.333/.652 with a pair of home runs and 10 runs batted in.

To take Mejia’s place on the active roster, catcher Rene Pinto has been recalled from Triple-A Durham.
