Manuel Margot‘s big weekend has led him to accolades, as the Rays outfielder was named the American League Player of the Week presented by Chevrolet for the week ending May 8.

Margot went .500/.539/1.042 over the seven games played last week, with a pair of doubles, a triple, three home runs and 12 runs batted in, whilt Tampa Bay went 6-1 in those games, losing only Sunday afternoon’s finale in Seattle.

The 27-year-old is the Rays first recipient of the award since Brandon Lowe won Player of the Week for the week ending August 16, 2020.  It’s the second time he has been named a Player of the Week, having won the National League Player of the Week in July 2017 as a member of the San Diego Padres.
