After leaving Monday’s game with a quad injury, the Tampa Bay Rays placed outfielder Kevin Kiermaier on the 10-day injured list with the injury Tuesday afternoon.
The 30-year-old centerfielder had gone 1 for 11 in the four games he played in 2021 without an RBI.
To take his spot on the active roster, infielder Kevin Padlo was recalled from the alternate training site. Acquired by the Rays in January 2016 from the Colorado Rockies in the deal for reliever Jake McGee, Padlo hit .265/.389/.538 in 118 games with Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham in 2019.
In addition, Tampa Bay was awarded the waiver claim on catcher Deivy Grullon from the Cincinnati Reds. To make room for Grullon, reliever Chaz Roe was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.
