Tampa Bay Rays reliever Pete Fairbanks was removed in the fifth inning of Sunday’s game with the Atlanta Braves with an apparent injury.

With a 2-2 count to Brock Holt, Fairbanks walked off the mound and motioned for manager Kevin Cash and assistant athletic trainer Mike Sandoval to come out of the dugout.  After a quick conversation, Cash called for a reliever, and Fairbanks headed into the dugout with Sandoval.

Minor-leaguer Cristofer Ogando took over on the mound for the reliever.

The Rays have not announced what Fairbanks’ injury may be.
