Margot To IL, Brujan To Be 27th Man For Twinbill

The Rays placed outfielder Manuel Margot on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 1 strain in his left hamstring.

The 26-year-old said he had been dealing with soreness in the hamstring, but nothing that he hadn’t experienced before, but suffered the strain about halfway down the first base line while beating out an infield single in the ninth inning of Monday’s 9-8 walkoff win.

Margot said he had an MRI on his hamstring Wednesday morning, and said the timetable for his return is about 2-3 weeks.

To take Margot’s place on the roster, relief pitcher Ryan Sherriff was recalled from Triple-A Durham.  In addition, the team recalled their #2 prospect, infielder Vidal Brujan, as the 27th man for the doubleheader, and he will make his big league debut in the matinee.
