Rays Add Anderson In Trade, Place Fairbanks On IL
The Tampa Bay Rays made a minor-league trade Wednesday that ended up affecting their big-league roster, acquiring pitcher Chase Anderson from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for cash considerations.
Anderson, who had been in the Rays organization for part of 2022 with Triple-A Durham, had been playing with the Reds top organization, the Louisville Bats, going 2-1 with a 4.30 ERA in five starts. The 35 year old has a career record of 58-50 with a 4.25 ERA in 199 appearances, 183 of then starts.
Anderson was selected to the big-league roster Wednesday afternoon when the Rays placed closer Pete Fairbanks on the 15-day injured list with irritation in his left forearm.
To make room on the 40-man roster for Anderson, reliever Zack Burdi was designated for assignment.
