The Tampa Bay Rays announced before Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees that they had placed relief pitcher Collin McHugh on the 10-day injured list with a strained lower back.

The 33-year-old, signed to a one-year deal by the Rays after opting out of the 2020 season, has appeared in four games this year, including in Saturday’s 6-3 victory in the Bronx.  He currently holds an 0-1 record and a 10.13 ERA with a save hold.

To take McHugh’s place on the active roster, reliever Chris Mazza, who was optioned Saturday to the alternate training site, was recalled.
