Bard Signs Minor-League Deal
The Tampa Bay Rays announced Thursday that they had signed pitcher Luke Bard to a minor-league deal with an invitation to big-league Spring Training.
Bard, the brother of former Red Sox and current Rockies reliever Daniel Bard, pitched for the Los Angeles Angels from 2018-2020. The 31-year-old has appeared in 46 games at the big-league level, compiling a 3-3 record and a 5.05 earned run average.

One of the people most associated with baseball coverage in Tampa Bay, he spent 13 seasons covering the Rays for flagship radio station WDAE, first as producer of Rays Radio broadcasts, then as beat reporter beginning in 2011. He likes new analytics and aged bourbon, and is the owner of one of the ugliest knuckleballs ever witnessed by baseball scouts.
